NOTE: This meeting is via Zoom, and a link will be provided to all who RSVP.
After a productive meeting in late March, the refugee task force will reconvene to decide upon further actions and exchange information about the situation for migrants in our community and the best practices for coming to their aid. With a strong focus on asylum seekers from Ukraine, many participants are paying particular attention to getting help to refugees fleeing the Russian invasion. We have already collected goods for new arrivals here in Ile de France and beyond. The dire situation of refugees is as urgent as ever. The Refugee Task Force is community-wide. We welcome anyone who would like to know how they can help or accredited organizations who are looking for volunteers.
In general, we have received an overwhelming response from AAWE members interested in Outreach and in order to rekindle the RTF for long term action, a couple of volunteers are needed to keep the gears in motion. We have listed a few roles we thought might cover the needs in the RSVP link (see below) and expect that details will be hammered out during the upcoming meeting.
Please RSVP HERE if you would like to join the meeting.
About the AAWE Refugee Task Force
The AAWE Community-wide Refugee Task Force was founded in 2016 in a spirit of generosity and a desire to enrich the lives of others while also enriching our own lives.
The Task Force has provided a forum for cross-organizational connections and information-sharing, allowing resources to be quickly identified to fill the evolving needs of those arriving from distant and often dangerous places to begin new lives in our community. Past participating associations have included AAWE, Every Child is a Gem, Compassion Without Borders, Association Pierre Claver, American Library in Paris, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Paris, American Church in Paris, American Cathedral, and FAWCO.
